Getting America to Work (GATW) is a coalition of commuters, government officials and transportation agencies that advocates in Congress for capital funding for public transportation investments.

GATW needed to generate awareness in Congress about the lack of funding and the benefits of public transit, including by mobilizing others to advocate with legislators.

Our Solution

Clapp 360 Communications built buzz for the work by establishing social media accounts and using those channels to provide frequent updates from Congress. We worked closely with GATW to gather the right information to keep supporters energized and mobilized through social media engagement.

Our Results

GATW went from zero to 1,040 social media followers, its coalition membership grew to 100, and the effort helped pass key legislation in Congress—the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act (FAST Act), establishing GATW as a national leader on the issue.
